A King

This weekend and today we celebrate the life of a Legend. A man who fought for justice and equality for all mankind. A man who's vision shaped and changed the world. His dream. .still lives on. Today celebrate this holiday and EVERYday by giving back to your community. Volunteering, lending a helping hand to your fellow brother or sister in need, or verbally providing encouragement.
We have come a long way. .but still have a ways to go before Dr. King's dream is to be our reality.

Remember his words not only in this day but always.

“Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'”
“Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.”
“Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

“We are not makers of history. We are made by history.”
“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”
"Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love"

Happy Birthday and Thank you for the legacy you have left for us not only to admire but a legacy that will act as a flame leading us to the promise land of tomorrow.
All Hail a true King. .~*

There is a new Courvoisier in town. .Rose'!!

This smooth blend of blackberry, black currant, cherry, vanilla, honey, and vine-peach flavors will have you blown away. Not to mention it has a little sparkle to it. It's a nice drink to have on the rocks or blended. Recently I tried what is called a "Belle Rose'" and figured that most of my SophistiKats who don't drink alcohol straight would enjoy this blended treat. It's a very simple recipe you can enjoy out or right at home. .Enjoy

Belle Rose'

1 part Courvoisier Rose
2 parts Orange Juice
1/2 part Lemon-Lime Soda

Pour ingredients in a glass over ice and stir gently
Pour in Cocktail Glasses

Jubilee Day

Every year on this day across the country respective chapters of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) celebrate "Jubilee Day". The NAACP celebrates "Jubilee Day" honoring the ending of slavery in most of America. (i.e. The Emancipation Proclamation was signed on this day by President Abraham Lincoln.)

"Jubilee Day" is a time when the history of African Americans as slaves in America is remembered. The journey from slavery to segregation, the civil rights movement, the strategies used for facing equality, obtaining justice for out future, and other vital portions are recounted as well.

Since it's inception on February 12, 1909 the NAACP has played a major role in providing and standing up for equality for the African American community. The organization continues it's fight to this day to hold true to it's purpose.
